18th. C. English Musical Bracket Clock Chimes Collectors

Manor Auctions offered a variety of fine clocks and timepieces in the July 30th catalog auction, with an 18th C. English Musical Bracket Clock chiming collectors and fetching $6035 (inclusive of buyers premium). As the auction neared, the clock attracted great interest with numerous calls and questions coming in from potential buyers. With the lot open, bidding went back and forth between telephone and Internet bidders, until a telephone bidder finally won out.

18TH CENTURY ENGLISH MUSICAL BRACKET CLOCK

George III Period musical, chiming bracket clock withpainted dial signed "G Yonge (George), Strand, London", Mahogany case with brass carry handle. Brass movement with engraved Prince of Wales feathers. The chimes are adjustable and include Jig, Air, Minuet, March, Dance, and song.  George Yonge was a Maker to His Majesty,  and worked from 156 The Strand, London until the firm was dissolved in 1833. This clock comes with keys and a 1953 receipt from Charles Frodsham & Co, London. Lot 15298
