Early Heywood-Wakefield Wicker Furniture Sells July 30th

heywood-wakefield-wicker-3Heywood-Wakefield is known as the premier maker of fine wicker furniture. Manor Auctions will feature a collection of early collectible Heywood-Wakefield wicker furniture pieces in their July 30th Catalog Auction. For years Heywood-Wakelfield was a global leader in the production and sale of Wicker.

Heywood-Wakefield formed as the coming together of 2 competitors in the furniture business. The first being Heywood Brothers furniture which was established in 1826 and the second being Wakefield Company established in 1855. Both of the companies produced very popular high quality wicker furniture. As separate companies they were fierce rivals in the industry, but in 1897 the companies merged as Heywood Brothers & Wakefield Company. The name was later changed (1921) to Heywood-Wakefield. Then as the company progressed and grew larger, Washburn-Heywood Chair Company was purchased in 1916, Oregon Chair Company in 1920 and lastly Lloyd Manufacturing Company in 1921. At this point in time, Heywood-Wakefield was the largest producer of wicker furniture in the world making a wide range of furniture for most every taste.

Manor Auctions is pleased to bring these fine Heywood-Wakefield works of wicker craftsmanship to market on July 30th, 2011. Along with the furniture, Manor will sell a wide selection of quality antique U.S. and European furniture pieces.
