ORIGINAL COMMISSIONED PASTEL BY ROLF ARMSTRONG An original commissioned pastel by artist Rolf Armstrong (1889 ? 1960, American). The piece features a cowgirl cooking meat over an open flame. Considered by many the father of the Pin-up art, Armstrong is the best known for the calendar girl illustrations he produced for Brown & Bigelow. This piece was commissioned by Miller Abattoir Co. in North Bergen, New Jersey, a meatpacking plant. The image was used on promotional playing cards for the company. Included in the lot is a set of the cards from the original work. Pastel is framed under glass in white wooden frame. Overall good condition with some mold throughout left side. Signed in bottom center, "Rolf Armstrong." Size: 32.75 x 29.75" framed
