About Patek Philippe Watches:
Patek Philippe is known as the world's premier watchmaker. The company was founded in 1839 as a business relationship between two Polish immigrants, Antoni Patek (Businessman) and Franciszek Czapek (Watchmaker) in Geneva, Switzerland. Then in 1844 Mr. Patek met French watchmaker, Mr. Adrien Philippe in Paris, where Mr. Philippe presented pioneering watch engineering in his stem winding and setting system near the crown. Then in 1845 Czapek chose to leave the company he co-founded and to continue his activity on his own, the company name then changed to Patek & Cie. Some years later, in 1851, Mr. Philippe officially associated with the company, and renamed it “Patek Philippe & Cie”, before deciding one more name change in 1901 to “Ancienne Manufacture d’Horlogerie Patek Philippe & Cie, S.A.”. In 1932, the company was purchased by Charles and Jean Stern, two brothers who owned a fine watch dial manufacturing company in Geneva. The brothers once again chose to rename the company as “Patek Philippe S.A.”. It remains in this name today and also remains a family owned firm. In 2009 the company presidency was transferred from the 3rd to the 4thgeneration with Mr. Thierry Stern becoming president and his father Mr. Philippe Stern, Honorary president. To this day, PatekPhilippe is known as the premier watchmaker with buyers ranging from business moguls to royalty and serious collectors.

From this point forward Rolex saught to hone the precision of its watches, In 1931 Rolex invented and patented the world's first self-winding mechanism with the Perpetual rotor. The perpetual movement revolutionized the watch industry. Following the perpetual movement, Rolex achieved yet another major milestone in the realm of watchmaking when, in 1926 they released the first waterproof and dust-proof watches. Rolex continues to produce precision timepieces and has established itself as a leading luxury watch for collectors the world-over.
